Recollections of an Old Man

Sitting in an overstuffed chair
with saddened eyes and whitened hair
thinking about journeys in life
remembering his lovely wife
he longed to hold her slender hand
that once wore a gold wedding band
feeling like a crumbling rock
carrying too much pain to block
swollen lumps in his throat remain
teardrops pouring down like blue rain
light from a lamp begins to fade
as he continuously prayed
for God to bless his aching heart
for his life to once again start
