A Garden of Peace
There is a garden at church where I like to visit from time to time. During the changes of the seasons, there are different flowers and plants. There are azaleas blooming in reds, pinks and whites. Have you ever looked at an azalea bloom up close? Well you will be surprised to see that they are blessed with freckles. Yes, little tiny dots on one of the petals on each blossom. That is one of the secrets of the azalea. Some azaleas are small and some are larger and fuller. Their colors delicately enhance the beauty of the garden. There are pansies there too. Beautiful colors of the rainbow in different shades of each are there to perk you up. Periwinkles line up around the pebbled walk to greet you as you wander there. There are bushes of roses, and beds of lilies, and patches of different kinds of flowers blooming. There are bushes of greens in almost every shade, to bless the pallet of colors arrayed in this garden. It is really beautiful and so peaceful there. A kidney-shaped pond is in the center, with a fountain at one end. Water lilies grace the top of the water with blooms of blue, purple and white with beautiful yellow centers. Green plants are sitting inside the pond to balance the scene. There are goldfish swimming around freely at the bottom of the pond. Children and adults alike enjoy watching them as they swim. At one end of the garden are trees planted as a backdrop for a large wooden cross hanging in the center. This is where I find my place of solitude and prayer. This garden is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy God's creation. Birds are chirping while squirrels play chase in the trees. A quiet place to thank God for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. I pray that all who visit this beautiful garden find it to be their place of sanctuary and peace.
