On the Shore
A solid thing finally is broken.

Goddamn, these shores!
I wander them everyday,
and they seem the same.

They never change, always solid;
the rocks hold fast
and sand unabiding.

Waves crash upon them,
intending to change them,
but still they won't budge.

Them BAM! pounds one wave,
strong as the rest,
but doing what none before it have done before.

I see sand slipping away,
and a chunk of rock floats by;
the shore is breaking down.

The crash awakens me from a daze
so powerful I can't see
what's dying in front of me.

The rocks begin a slow tumble
from the shore
as the sand pulls away.

I stand atop this boardwalk
in danger of collapsing,
taking me with it.

Yet the waves are too much,
pulling away at the once solid shores,
and I have no choice but to leave.
