The Dreams Within Us

Horses have always been a part of me.
My nights were spent galloping Pegasus.
Apollo's steeds made me weak in the knees.
I dreamed of owning my Bucephalus.
But horses were never on any tests,
And so my interest was often suppressed
By the teachers who ruled my days in school
And the students who mocked what I'd expressed.
They jeered and told me that horses weren't cool.

So I learned to hide the dreams deep inside,
Still soaring the skies aback Pegasus.
And no one suspected my daydream rides,
But inside me lived my Bucephalus.
I grew to adulthood -- bought two horses,
Ones I'd envisioned -- which only reinforces
That dreams are truly the integral chart,
Which plots and plans our inner resources,
And charges the goals which live in our heart.
