Prompt Contest! Quoth the Raven, "Enter more!"
by: [Raven Needs A Publisher!] (7)

These two lines must be in the poem!!
         When will I see the light?
         I cannot escape this place.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                             The Light
                   I cannot escape this place,
                   Although I surge upward often
                   In battle with the heave of gravity.
                   But I cannot pierce this human lining
                   Which holds greater than all strength.
                   I cannot break away from flesh.
                   I cannot escape this place,
                   Although my mind surges forward,
                   And strikes against the band
                   That corrals-in ideas,
                   And hovers atop dreams,
                   Forbidding aspiration from flight.
                   I cannot escape this place,
                   Although my soul seeks its home,
                   Transporting me nightly
                   Through a carousel of visions.
                   When will I see the light?
                   Repeatedly, unendingly I ask.
