IN MY DREAMS

IN MY DREAMS

I believe God speaks to us through dreams;
When we are relaxed and sleeping, it seems
That time and space are intertwined, and we
Experience the impossible in what we see.

Many years ago I dreamed of my brother
Who was living way out in the west,
The gas was on, but unlit, and he
Had come home and laid down to rest.

"Just a dream", my mother said
When I told her what I had seen;
Yet in a year or so he came home
And related to us - my dream!

"I almost died", he said softly,
And couldn't believe his ears,
When mother told him of my dream
And of my "unfounded" fears.

Another time, another dream,
My aunt had passed away;
I saw her lying in a coffin
And the events of the day.

Dreams are strange sometimes
When events are foretold;
It has happened time and again,
Even now that I've grown old.

In mourning, I left the room
When my sister passed away;
Yet three knocks on the door
Told me she'd be okay.

So strange the way things happen,
In Germany I felt the loss again;
Of a brother killed in an accident
I swear he came to me back then.

I'd settled down beside my husband
And was wakened from a sleep;
A chill in the air, I felt him there
With a destiny he must keep.

In my dreams, I've felt and seen
More than I care to know;
But God prepares the way for us
And softens up the blow.
