This poem was written about a lady in the church I attended. She will turn 91 on the 17th, of March 2011. She is so elegant and poised... but more importantly is her inner beauty, a Godly beauty. She is loved and respected by the congregations, her family, community, friends and strangers alike. Long live our "Flower Of Age"

This poem received honorable mentions in The Rose Garden Contest.

In The Garden Of Roses

In the garden of roses
Emerged a flower so rare
With beauty and charm
And a head of white hair

This rose has been growing
For ninety one years
Strong roots have developed
With family and peers

She stands in the garden
Full of grace and lowly pride
With all of her little roses
Gathered near her side

Her petals are edged
With silver and gold
Her composition stands
Upright, a rarity to behold

The thorns and thistles
Have not harmed her much
She remains a rose like velvet
Still soft to the touch

The bouquets we give
Symbolize love and care
So does our dear flower
A darling rose named Claire

In the garden of roses
Claire takes front stage
Her many years of living
Makes her our flower of age

Unlike all roses
That wither and die
When the time comes
She will stay a rose in God's eye
