13--HAUNTING MEMORIES: a ghazal

Looks like your memory won’t
Let me live, it does so haunt.

If you won’t come to me then
Why in my dreams do you taunt?

You are that keep me alive;
Don’t forsake me, say you won’t.

You are a beacon for me
Like the sermon on the mont.

Come soon and give me new life;
I will perish if you don’t.

Do not deny me your dreams
I hope Khalish that you won’t.

• Written as seven syllables per line. For a detailed note on ghazal, please see "WHAT IS A GHAZAL AND HOW TO WRITE IT?
