BETRAYED IN LOVE
Has she betrayed me in love? Or, just away she has swayed? I don’t know but why should I By her conduct be dismayed? That she just could not love me, Why should I hold against her? She is independent, too, Why can’t she, from me, differ? Essence of love is but this: Have, for each other, respect; Don’t question other’s judgment, Other’s motives, don’t suspect. Though my friends often tell me That in love I am betrayed, I within my heart believe She has from me only swayed.
