The Animals and Christmas
A poem about the animals talking about the first Christmas.

It's Christmas Eve-
All is calm, all is bright.
In Christmas magic, the animals do believe.
There is a shining star in the sky on this night.

"See the star in the sky, mother?" says baby donkey.
Mother donkey smiles and says"Yes, I do."
She smiles with pride-
as she lies down on bended knee.
Remembering it was a donkey on Christmas Eve,
years ago who gave Baby Jesus' mother a ride.

A big black horse tells of the three wise men
who followed the star-
a little brown calf is all ears-
as he wonders how far away is far?
The little lamb says:"Do you hear what I hear?"

Christmas bells start to ring.
Two little goats wish they could have been there
on that Holy Night.
The cats and dogs start to sing.
Christmas Carols seem so right on this
beautiful, snowy Christmas Eve Night.

The animals lay down to rest-
they bow their heads and say a prayer.
Christmas Day is always the best-
As for the first Christmas, we will always care.
