Self

break my bones
I care not
the sensation of my body
splintering under your touch
is an irrelevance
a mere distraction

feed me flesh
I take not
the bodies of others
I shall not consume
my life is no more valuable than
those who have died for our tastes
and so I refuse

give me love
I want not
you have nothing to offer me
and I to you
our lives criss-cross for a brief second
illuminating the other for a moment
and then nothing

forever
and ever
Amen.
