A THOUGHT
One looks back on one's life of struggle and sacrifice, shunning pursuit of pleasure

A THOUGHT

Sometimes a thought comes and lingers:
My life with pleasure I could fill;
I too could have danced in the spring;
My love I could have pursued still.

Sometimes a thought comes and lingers:
I too could have sung lovely tunes;
I too could have pursued desire;
I too could have gathered fortunes.

Sometimes a thought comes and lingers:
I could fill my days with delights;
I too could have been sipping wine;
I too could have had cozy nights.

But, then, a voice does beckon me,
Brings me back from my world of thought:
“Miles and miles still you have to go
Till then, traveler, rest you not.

Look here, for you there is no pause.
Your goal is still so far away.
Till then, you must not waste a breath,
Till this journey does end one day”.
