The Climb

My brother Wayne who contacted lung cancer from Agent Orange, and succumbed to it in 2007.

The Climb

Dedicated to,
the memory of my brother, Wayne.

We've hunted in the Kentucky fields,
Worn sores on the back of our heels,
Fished in the muddy river overnight,
We're lucky to get a mosquito bite.

Played softball in hot summer's sun,
Gave our best seldom winning one,
Stood by each other in deep sorrow,
wanted better days for our tomorrow.

Served in the Army at the same time,
You in Vietnam, I served here behind,
Agent Orange gave you lung cancer,
Only God knows what is the answer.

Now we stand at a mountain's base,
We'll climb it with God's Holy grace.
If you get to weak and want to stop,
I will carry you to the mountain's top.

I know you fear this terminal disease,
Stand by you and pray on my knees
God almighty, will light the Holy way.
Brother, we must have faith and pray.

God is watching us He looking down,
He'll not forsake us He's stays around,
Have faith brother when it's your time,
You'll leave Earth with God the divine.
