Character Description:
Shayla studied the young girl she found in the stairway. Her auburn hair was cropped short and close to her head like many of the farm children. She wore homespun clothes but unlike the others, her shirt was a midnight blue. Shayla had seen men and boys wearing that color and wondered if the girl had borrowed the clothes. At first, Shayla had taken her for a boy until she saw the curves that signified womanhood. She bit back a gasp as the girl, little older than a child, turned her head up to gaze at the bard. Her eyes, so large in her pinched face, were the golden yellow of the sunrise. That yellow, so vivid in her tan face, was the only visible mark of a Majay in full power. This tired, tattered little girl was a powerful Majay. Shayla knew well that the darker the yellow the more powerful the Majay and Shayla had never seen darker yellow eyes. (from Come the Fire)

Since he is now dead, the farm belongs jointly to Airell and Ardra. The farm is almost completely self-sufficient; growing their own food and raising sheep and goats for wool, meat, and profit. They are about a three to four day trip from the nearest village and are separated by a mountain range from the rest of the land.
