DEW AND TEARS
Silent dew drops fall outside As I sit through the night; And so do tears in my eyes To hold which I can’t fight. Night is gone, and, so is he, Not to return again. He has taken my treasure And left me only pain. I can’t blame him, he is free; In love one cannot bind. It was but my sheer folly. I was in love so blind! Boys will be boys and men, men; He stuck to his nature. Alas! I am in my teens, He, a bit, too mature. I will spend many more nights, My tears mingling with dew. One day I will have to start My life again anew! * Written in abcb 7-6-7-6 format * Adjudged for Honorable Mention in "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 18 August 2003
