Missing Links
something just isn't there

You think the bond between us
is something that cannot be broken,
but as you already know,
it has been severed before.
Yet, we have tried to rebuild it,
the missing links making it fall apart,
leaving gaps that cannot be filled
no matter how hard we try,
and yes, while the slipping chains hurt
as they are disassembled,
in unending pattern,
it doesn't compare
to the pain
when one pulls
and the other doesn't move.
We fall flat on our face
and shatter our hearts.
