WHAT IS A TEAR?
A misty film that clouds the eye Condenses as a tear That glistens like a pearl awhile Then drops, the eye is clear. As in those few moments the tear Flows down the silent cheek, Emotions gush out in torrents. There’s none for them to speak. If feelings of the heart could be Told somehow by the lip, There won’t be a need for the tear, From heart and eyes to slip. What is a tear? Is it merely A water drop saline? It’s no less a part of the heart That melts down the eyes mine! • Written in abcb 8-6-8-6 format M C Gupta ‘Khalish’ 27 August 2003
