No One told me it was a Formal Occasion

Your breath smells like fish,
and your butt, it does droop.
But I'll always refill your dish,
and scoop up your poop.

The Runt of the litter,
you were nearly destroyed.
How empty would my heart be now?
Without you to fill the void.

You're my little boy cat,
my talkative friend.
My mini-mammalian,
shaped like a two-toned bowling pin.

No, no one told me it was
a formal occasion,
but you sure look sharp in your tuxedo,
on your flexible frame.

Yes, I just "came as I was"
to this party, my Life,
but my sharp-dressed companion
loves me all the same.
