A LIFE GONE
Tender bud, you saw no bloom, Crushed in secrecy and gloom; Destined never to display, The magic inside you lay; I caused hurt and pain to you, I repented for this, true. Can I ever recover From the guilt that I suffer? Sin to you I committed, Sixth commandment omitted. I gave you not birth, but, death, How shall I escape His wrath? With shame I have lived it through. Forgive me, I beseech you. • Written in aa bb 7-7-7-7 format • Related poem: THANKS MOM—award winner "THANKS MOM--award winner" M C Gupta 5 September 2003
