Epic of an Adolescent
This is the story of how I discovered Writing.Com, told in the form of an epic poem

When I was a teenager seeking my calling
Upon this great Internet site I came falling
I'd heard many tales from satisfied friends
And that's how at Writing.Com I did end.

Between band, student council, directing my play,
Friends, studying, Wicca, and chores ev'ry day,
I needed a place to unwind, to be me,
Where from parents' and teachers' demands I'd be free

I'd always loved writing, since I was quite small,
So within a few days, I was having a ball,
Reading and rating, reviewing, and writing,
Getting positive feedback was always exciting!!!

Before very long, I had run out of room
For my stories and poems. Was I to be doomed
To be cast out of paradise, deemed unwelcome here,
Did this signal the end of my writing career?

So I went to my mom with my tale of woe,
And on to this wonderful site she did go
To buy me an upgrade for my nineteenth birthday
And from then on, I knew I had come here to stay

So now I'm still writing my poems and stories
But I've yet to be touched by the warm rays of glory,
Still yet to be given an awardicon
But hopefully, soon, that shame will be gone

But no matter what happens, I'll always keep writing,
Creating my own little world's so exciting
Come into my world, leave reality behind
You'll be oh so excited at what you will find

Meet Mandela, and Hope, and Meenibumhed,
The dragon who'd rather paint houses instead
Meet Athena, Pandora, Aphrodite, and Hermes,
And see how they opened a huge can of wormies

Yes, come one, come all, you'll be so glad you did
But now a most hearty farewell I must bid,
For the life of a student is packed overflowing,
But all through my days, I'll be cheered by my knowing,

There is always a place where ideas can run wild,
Where a grown man or woman can think like a child,
Where dragons can lisp and hang floral wallpaper
Where love can create crazy outer-space capers,

Where stress can be conquered by telling your tales,
Where there's no right or wrong, and you can't pass or fail.
Where from parents' and teachers' demands we are free,
Where you can be you, and I can be me.
