"Sticks and stones will break my bones,"
Chanted schoolyard children. But words do hurt. Hurt more than you could know. They pierce my heart, And draw blood. Red blood, dark red blood. As red as the blood the sticks and stones draw. Words hurt. Do people mean to hurt with words? Do they mean to make me cry? Do they understand how they pain me? Understand how it hurts? "Sticks and stones will break my bones," Chanted schoolyard children.
