When you told me you loved me,
My heart danced inside me. My Januarys turned to June, And birds sang on the rainiest days. I saw strangers walking by and wondered: “Can they tell?” I wanted to scream out to the world: “I’ve found the man of my dreams And HE LOVES ME!” I went to bed and grinned into my pillow. I couldn’t stop smiling. All my days were brighter, My senses awakened because: You said you loved me. Do you remember, my sweet? The innocence of the first realization of love? The electricity when our eyes met, The…static…when our hands touched. We said: “I want to be pure to protect your purity.” And: “I would never do anything to hurt you.” Since then, we’ve stumbled, And we’ve -tripped- and we’ve f l o u n d e r e d. We’ve said things we didn’t mean, We’ve done things we regret, And sometimes I wonder if we were right… But then you take my hands, Look in my eyes, And tell me you love me. And my heart dances.
