The Sad Tale of Flashy

My pet lightning bug has gone astray,
Out into the night with his light to play,
He’s filled with longing to explore the night,
Dancing with danger, flashing his light,
He doesn’t desire to remain stationary,
Nor seek the safety of a sanctuary,
Dangers that are hard or cumbersome,
Preclude not his search for glad outcomes,
He thought the risk he could wield until,
SPLATT! He ended up on my windshield.
