The Prompt: Write a free verse, 20 lines max. on the Written word.

WRITTEN WORDS

Terrifying to some and simple to others
Subject, Object, Predicate
Noun, Verb, Adverb, Adjective,
Syntax, Context, so many terms ...

Yet, they are the doors,
To eons of knowledge gathered by man,
Enter and thou shall be fulfilled,
As by no other device.

Conquests, Victories, Kingdoms, Magic,
Discoveries, Inventions, Explorations, Ruminations,
Speeches, Jokes, Dialogues, Stories,
Poems, Odes, Ballads, Epics,
Truths, Theologies, Fiction, Fact ...

I look at the words and delight,
They reveal so much to me,
And yet when sleep comes with silent steps,
I give in to it, and the word dissolves,
Into dreams.

Speak not into my dirty ears, and pass not before my smelly nose,
Just serve it all to my eyes, to read evermore.

WRITTEN WORDS

Terrifying to some and simple to others
Subject, Object, Predicate, Noun
Rhyming, metre, cadence ...
We have to deal with so many terms!

Yet, they are the doors to eons
of knowledge gathered by man,
Enter and thou'll be fulfilled,
as by no other device you can.

Similes and Transferred Epithets,
Apostrophes, Alliterations and Puns
Writing Poems, Odes, and Ballads
can become such a lot of fun!

I look at my words and delight,
They reveal so much, it seems,
And yet when sleep comes silently,
The words dissolve into dreams.

Speak not into my ears,
Pass not before my nose,
Just serve it all to my eyes,
For me to read evermore.
