Rubiyat Poem
The Veil.

I know you’ve always dreamt, about your wedding day,
when the man of your dreams, kneels down to say,
“I love you very much – will you marry me?”
from a man who needs you always, and in every way.

But let me tell you now, about my lasting dream;
I see you standing there, all in white – agleam,
with a glow that shines so brightly, as the beating of my heart.
As if it were a fantasy, and nothing's as it seems.

Families comes together, to see us hand-in-hand,
and I feel a sense of wonder, among the bliss and grand.
But the noises in the crowded church, begin to fade away –
and right there and then, I truly understand.

I see a kind of beauty, that I’ve never seen before,
I feel it hold me tightly, but yet it’s so much more,
this lady standing here, with love all around her -
surrounds my soul and calls to me; this woman I adore.

The preacher says to me, “You may kiss your bride.”
And my heart skips a beat, as it fills itself with pride,
knowing from this day on, you will be my wife.
That all the love you have to give, within me, will reside.

Our love was always meant to be; a love that shall prevail,
from a future into history, with memories yet to tell.
Let me be the first to look, into your lovely eyes,
when that precious day arrives, to raise your wedding veil.
