The Thing from the Pit
From out of the depth, this thing crept, A hideous sight to behold; It had been stuck in the mire and the muck, Kept by a gate that was old. I had locked him there, because of my despair, It was dangerous if I let him free; And indecent slaps, off his tongue he would snap, At the innocents to make them flee. Justification for his words, as they occurred, He blamed on the prudish souls; Alone and forsaken, still he was unshaken, As he sought to escape his wretched hole. Lying on a bed thatched, slowly a plan hatched, And he evolved his master plan; He'd change his spots to carry out his plot, So he'd sound like a common man. No more did he mock, or try to shock The innocents who passed by his pen; And slowly there, he gained their care, And opened the gate that kept him in. Then out like a snake, he crawled from the lake, And wrapped around me again; Too late when I knew what he planned to do, Into the pit he pulled me in. There's nothing for me, I'll never be free Of this curse that's held me so long; Though medicines help, still I am kept By this thing that is always so strong. So down in this pit, with my tormentor I sit, I'm sentenced to life in this place; The exit is closed, I 've been diagnosed As one with an incurable case. I'm really not sad, but for a while I had A life that seemed so legit, But I sit on my bed, take medicine till I'm dead, And be buried with the creature from the pit. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Words required to be used by "Para/Poem Challenge "Open"" Justification...Prudish...Forsaken...Thatched...Common...Indecent
