If I Went to Africa
If I went to Africa, I'd be afraid of some of the animals, but not of the kids.

If I Went To Africa

If I went to Africa and spied a crocodile,

I’d never think of swimming in that warm river water.

Yet, I’ve seen lots of pictures of children in the Nile.

If I went to Africa and spied a crocodile,

I’d stay far away from that hungry reptile.

I’d cling to my parents, an obedient daughter.

If I went to Africa and spied a crocodile,

I’d never think of swimming in that warm river water.

If I went to Africa and met a river horse,

I'm sure that hippo and I would not be friends.

But if he wiggled his ears, I’d clap, of course.

If I went to Africa and met a river horse,

I’d never endeavor to engage him in discourse,

For those befriending hippos come to bitter ends.

If I went to Africa and met a river horse,

I'm sure that hippo and I would not be friends.

If I went to Africa and encountered there a snake,

I’d at once retreat with a most unfriendly "bye".

My knees, I think, might quake, and my body'd shake.

If I went to Africa and encountered there a snake,

I might even talk about my awful tummy ache,

And I’m positive I'd scream a loud, horrendous cry.

If I went to Africa and encountered there a snake,

I’d at once retreat with a most unfriendly "bye".

If I went to Africa and bumped into a boy,

Even though his skin might be a color not like mine,

Even if his words were strange, I’d still be overjoyed.

If I went to Africa and bumped into a boy,

I’d read a book with him and share my favorite toy.

And whatever he would like to play, that would be just fine,

If I went to Africa and bumped into a boy,

Even though his skin might be a color not like mine.
