In memory of my oldest brother E.Richard who recently lost his battle with cancer.

You Are Resting In Peace

God gave us a brother
Who was special and sweet
Then he placed many burdens
Down at his feet

He picked up the burdens
Did what was expected of him
Looked after his four siblings
Worked and wore himself thin

He cooked us our meals
Got us off to school
Then he taught us to live
By God's golden rule

He taught us to work
He taught us to pray
He taught us to be careful
Of the words that we say

He told us not to be bitter
God took our parents away
Then he'd hug and kiss us
And laugh and say

I'm now your mother, your father
And your big brother too
We must stick together
And love each other

We grew, we parted
We went our separate ways
Then one day we got the word
His life was almost through

There was nothing left
That the Doctors could do
And all we could do was pray
Cancer was eating his life away

Yet, while we knew
We were losing him
When it happened
It broke our hearts in two

For then, we not only lost a brother
But the one that was our mother
Our father and our best friend
Who loved us until his very end.

God bless you my dear, you are finally resting in peace . We miss you and will love you always.
