IF I COULD CAPTURE YOUR HEART*


If I could capture your heart
Or a glance of your eye
If for a moment I could
Gesture of love, in you, spy

If I could in your voice
Discern hesitant quiver
Or feel your gentle touch
That would, true, make me shiver

What would I not give for your
Glance, gesture, voice or touch
That would verily inflame
In me passions of love such

That I may be in your love
One day totally insane
And forget everything else
Except you and your name

Nothing else in this life
Is for me left to achieve
But to win your favour
And, in my love, get reprieve.

*This title is a striking one which captures the reader’s attention. It is borrowed from "Invalid Item"  by Lola St. Marcos and inspired me to write a poem on it in my own way. On reading my poem, the same happened to Angel Essence, who wrote the poem "Invalid Item" , which contains the line “If I could capture your heart” as an opening refrain in each stanza. The chain may yet continue. Love never stops!
