Rosey Girl
Quizmo LaGrande I have a dearest darling, Sweet as sweet can be, Smiles in the morning, Even though she’s weak in knees. Her aged hips are failing Yet she never once complains. Beams at any outing And her passion still remains The catching of the ‘red thing,’ An awkward shaped device, That’ll bounce in strange directions, N’er in the same way twice. Every day she tries her hardest To convince some one to play, “Please throw my favorite ‘red thing;’ I will catch it!” her eyes say. In youth her feat outstanding! Any Yankee, Dodger, Met Would be happy as her fielding, Her timing was adept! But now she’s slow and aging, A gold now graced with white, The perfection of devotion, To her people and her plight To catch the scarlet thingie, She demands be tossed alight, Or the tennis ball recovered From the side yard—stinky flight… Gross beyond description Yet my golden headed’s scheme Insists this scent recovered Is the doggie’s breat-mint dream! She’s a furry footed friend, Four paws and bushy tail That wags without condition And wags with such regale That we have to love our Rosey Though she’s oft a large rug slug That non careful tend to trip on Still she trusts all—everyone To walk and step about her Yet her features are just snap That she blends with wooden floors Camouflaged in nighttime’s trap. Rosey girl, we love you! Leash toting pal that leaves no doubt That a canine world is simply Full of love… the most devout!
