October Afternoon
Quizmo LaGrande

As you caress rosewood and strings,
In eucalyptus bluebird sings,
Whilst in simile and metaphor
I keep the afternoon.

A pot of orange, yellow, pinks
Ascend from terra cotta sinks.
In simile and metaphor
I bask in autumn noon.

Then you strum of poet’s stone
Towered with love, grit, and groan,
Touching sea in metaphor.
October afternoon.

Warm wind shares its common story,
Squalls through summer’s inventory.
Hound dogs lie in allegory
Laze sunny autumn noon.

None, so none, as I entranced,
Waltzed in poet-player dance,
Plucked in rhyme and circumstance…
Perfect autumn afternoon.
