A TWIST OF FATE She promised to love, honor, and cherish As she looked up into his eyes; Yet a twist of fate befell her mate, Exposing all of his lies. The preacher asked if anyone at all Had an objection that they wed; A young girl stepped forward then And this is what she said: "I know this may be a betrayal Of the confidence he entrusted to me; But he told me that we would marry - That I was his bride-to-be!" The face of the bridegroom reddened, And the face of the bride was shocked; "How could you!" she said, "I will not wed!" And out of the church she walked! Countrymom 10/20/03
