Growth
A poem about learning not to be afraid to take a chance.

With her kiss she gave her dreams,
With her words she gave her heart,
With her smile she let down fences,
With his fear he played a part.

Had she known it wasn't real,
Had she known it wasn't true,
Had she known he'd only hurt her,
Had she only had a clue.

Then she wouldn't have had the lesson,
Then she wouldn't have had a thrill,
Then she wouldn't have grown a little,
Then she wouldn't have memories still.

Playing it safe can keep you sheltered,
Playing it safe can teach a role,
Playing it safe can make you duller,
Playing it safe can steal your soul.

Taking a chance can make you stronger,
Taking a chance can bring you growth,
Taking a chance can grow some meaning,
Taking a chance can nudge you home.

Grow some wings and fly a little,
Grow some wings and take a chance,
Grow some wings and soar with feel,
Grow some wings and learn to dance.

For you're stronger than you think,
For you're wiser than you know,
You need only learn to trust within,
For life to let you grow.
