"A real wedding Cynthia, it's been my dream for you since they first laid you in my arms in the hospital. I never had one sweetie, and I want to do this for you. A real celebration with all the trimmings. I can't wait to start planning! How about I fly out next weekend and we start thinking about arrangements?"

Cynthia cringed. It was going to be as bad as she'd thought. Worse probably by the time it was over with. Her mother continued to babble nonstop about caterers and flowers and who knows what else. Cynthia gratefully didn't know what else, because she held the phone away from her ear. She looked at Dylan sitting across from her, rolled her eyes and mouthed "help".

Dylan smiled, and came over to sit next to her on the couch, grabbed the phone from Cynthia and did what he does best. "Margaret? Margaret honey? It's The King here.....look darlin', I gotta ask you a huge favor. I know you're all excited about the wedding, and we are too, but I think you need to mellow for me, go have a peanut butter and banana and we'll call you back in a few. Thank you. Thank you very much." And he hung up the phone.

Cynthia rolled on the couch in laughter. "I cannot believe how you get away with that with her. You didn't even wait for her to reply did you? Man, if I did that, she would have an absolute cow."

"It's all in the attitude and delivery sweetheart, you should know that by now," he replied with that grin on his face that just melted her. God she loved this man. And she was still in a state of shock that after 2 years he'd finally popped the question.

"OK. Forget Mom for a while please? Let's go see if we can replace my Stray Cats CD that YOUR dog destroyed thinking it was a frisbee, and then you can help me with the set list for tonight."

Cynthia got up off the couch, and immediately tripped over the blue suede shoe left in the middle of the living room floor. "Geez Dylan, after we're married, are you going to reform your sloppy ways?" she said with a tad amount of seriousness. She adored the man, but he sure could be a slob. She thought she was going to end the relationship the night she'd pulled back the bed covers and plopped her tired self into the bed in the dark, only to have the bejeebees scared out of her by the feel of his black wig complete with the bushy sideburns making contact with her unsuspecting legs.

"Don't hold your breath" he said taking her into his arms and kissing her. "You know you can't help falling in love with me in spite of my faults."

"So wise men say, eh cutie?" she said kissing him back. "Ok, ok, let's get this shopping expedition over with. I want to get some stuff done around here before we have to leave tonight."

They walked out to the car holding hands, and old Mr. Michaels next door paused from his leaf raking to wave and shout hello, "well if it isn't the King and his queen" he said with a smile.

Dylan waved back as he held the door of the pink cadillac open for Cynthia, "yes, yes Mr. Michaels" he replied in his best working voice "Elvis has left the building."

Prompt was to write a story or poem incorporating:

a broken CD
