New Prompt: Write a poem, using "The Bref Double" as your form about the fact that your computer gave up...
The Bref Double has strong resemblances with the Sonnet, but the difference is that it doesn’t require a specific meter, and the rhyme scheme is different. The Bref Double is written in three quatrains and a couplet and uses the following rhyme scheme:
a/x/b/c
x/a/x/c
a/x/a/b
a/b
The x stands for a line that doesn’t rhyme with any of the other lines.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The clock is ticking loudly by my bed.
It’s 3 am; my thoughts are going strong.
I make a cup of coffee as I grin.
I snuggle in my chair, my fingers ready.
As I push the button in on my PC,
Ideas are bursting loudly in my head.
Nothing seems to happen—What the heck?
Thoughts drain from my mind; I feel unsteady.
My documents I’ve saved cannot be read.
Did I really just forget to save on disk?
Are all the words I’ve written buried, dead?
Now I know not where I should begin.
To save on disk’s important, it’s been said.
To only save on file, it is a sin.
