Thanksgiving Leftovers-- Ha!

The New Prompt is:
The big turkey dinner is all over, the family and friends are left... write a story or poem about what you did with the leftovers.

Thanksgiving Leftovers — Ha!

Leftover turkey,
Left over, the ham,
Leftover tators,
Left over, the yam.

You’d not believe it--
The new fridge is full!
It doesn’t feel cool—
Ah! This is such bull!

Everyone’s left now.
Oh, what do I do?
I can’t believe it—
Our fridge is brand new!

Leftover pudding,
Left over, the pie,
Leftover Jell-O;
“Leftovers!” I cry.

Temperature’s rising;
The porch is not cold.
I yearn for the fridge
We recently sold!

How could this happen?
Oh, how could this be?
Why do things always
Go bad for poor me?

Hubby announces,
“No cat food about!”
Thanksgiving meal for
The cats is now out.

Barn cats are hangin’
Around the front door.
“They’re hungry,” I sulked,
And silently swore.

But then it occurred!
My overturned brain
Grasped onto a thought—
'Twas surely insane!

We hauled and we lugged—
We dragged, at the least!
Thanksgiving, merry—
A kitty-cat feast!

When it was over,
The fridge was devoid.
Not one crumb remained.
(I still was annoyed.)

Coffee, tomorrow,
Would be hot and black—
But I like my creamer;
For that, I will lack!

-(Our 5 week old refrigerator died before Thanksgiving Day, but we did not realize it until it was too late! If you buy a new fridge, make sure you get the extended warranty which covers spoiled food! *sigh*
