Sierra Tall, Sierra Fair
A poem to a young friend

You are my gem, Sierra tall, Sierra fair,
Bejeweled with sparkling eyes and golden hair.

A smile touched you with its grace
to spread its peace upon your face.

I did not hold vigil at your birth
No infant giggles brought me mirth.

You grew past childhood before I knew you,
But surprising love came to me through you.

Thanks to you, Sierra tall, Sierra fair.
You have blessed me with this friendship rare.
