Merry Christmas! Angel and I hope you are looking forward to the Holiday season! I'm sure we are busy Christmas Shopping, decorating and making plans for Christmas dinner. I will be having my family over for Christmas Eve. Angel will be spending Christmas with Phillip, her boyfriend and son Robert.
No matter how you spend Christmas, please remember Jesus is the reason for the season. I hope we can all find peace and good will to men this year and always.
We will talk about Angels and Christmas Trees in this issue. I found some interesting info in a Christmas Encyclopedia. Angel and I hope you will enjoy this issue.
Angels. These can be found on Christmas cards, wrapping paper, Christmas Trees and other displays. They were there for Jesus's birth and are mentioned in the Old Testament of the Bible.
An angel appeared to Mary and told her she was going to have a child by the Holy Spirit. Another Angel came to Joseph and told him to take Mary and the baby and flee into Egypt. Another angel told the shepherds of Jesus's birth. Angels are messengers from God and also act as guardian angels.
The very firsr Christian depictions of angels date back to the time of the Roman Empire. Early paintings show them as men with wings. Other artists painted angels wearing white robes with wings. Some believe angels were painted to resemble Nike, the Greek Goddess, the winged female spirit of victory.By fifth century, Christian artists depict angels with a disk of light, called nimbus, behind their heads. This nimbus or halo, signifies holiness, purity and spirutual power.
Over the centuries, angels were painted as chubby cute children. Later, women angels were shown with harps and other musical instruments. The primary occupation of angels is to praise God. It's good to know we have angels who watch over us.

Christmas Trees
Few people today would recognize a fir tree decorated only with red apples and white, circular wafers as a paradise tree. This was an early form of Christmas Tree and was used as a prop for the paradise play performed around Christmas time.
The paradise tree served as the central prop for the paradise play. It represented the two important trees of the Garden of the Eden: the Tree of the Knowledge of the Good and Evil and the Tree of Life. The apples on the paradise tree symbolized the fall of humanity described in the Adam and Eve story of the Bible. The evergreen tree was chosen because in the winter, this was the only tree which wasn't lifeless. The white wafers hung on the tree which stood for the promise of reconcilation with God made possible through Jesus Christ. Sometimes, cherries severed as tree ornaments reminding people of Mary and the Annunication. A lit of candles also surrounded the tree during performances. The play was performed within the circle.
Germans adopted a whole new form of Christmas trees and called it CHRISTBAUM or "Christ Tree." Pastry dough ornaments resembling angels, hearts, stars and bells replaced communion wafers on trees. Paper roses adorned the tree which symbolized the birth of Christ. Later, animal ornaments were also used.
Christmas Trees have come along way. It is interesting to know how the Christmas Tree got started.
Here is a message from Johnny Mac, a Dear adorable friend:
Christmas Tidings
Snow is falling, the night is cold and from out of his warm bed, a child explores.
Will I receive it, the present I wished for, all wrapped up in bright shiny paper.
Or will it be so big, that it will be hard to push it down my chimney?
I do hope for this to be true.
Christmas is with greetings of joy, cake for the grown ups, for the children great toys.
Turkey for lunch, sweets to follow, with us all spread out before a wonderous fire.
Christmas comes but once a year, So make it filled with your cheer.
Old Dickens Era Song, when the door at which the carol is being delievered to, won't open because of being penniles{have no money}. After the carols have been sung, We Wish you A Merry Christmas was the carol chosen.
To be sung after the carols have been sung.
Please spare a penny for the old man's hat.
It's almost Christmas and the goose is getting fat.
If you haven't a penny.
Aha-penny will do.
If you haven't got a ha-penny,
God Bless You.
Lots of Love,
Johnny
Thanks, Johnny!
