HESITATION

Is it your shyness darling?
Is it hesitation?
Though I have proposed, yet I
Wait with trepidation.

What’s the thought inside your heart?
Have I a place in it?
Or, in the scheme of your life,
May be I do not fit.

We once walked the garden paths
And sauntered by sea-side,
Swearing to each other that
We would always abide.

We had told each other that
We would remember this:
To make each other happy
Would be our only wish.

Think not twice if now you have
Any doubt on your part.
Don’t bother that your denial
Might break a loving heart.

What matters to me is that
You ever be happy.
Let not a cause of distress
Your hesitation be.
