THE GENTLEMAN OF COURSE

Why gentlmnwritr? Where to start? The beginning seems the obvious place. When I first registered with Writing.Com I had no idea what to expect. I nervously posted my first few humble pieces and waited. In a very short time I received my very first review from – yes, you guessed – gentlmnwritrhimself. Positive comments and generous gift points are the encouragement every new writer needs on joining this site and I am sure gentlmnwritr has welcomed many newbies this way.


         In return I visited his portfolio to find a wide range of interesting and poignant pieces. His little philosophies on writing, rating, smiles and life are well worth viewing and are bound to leave the reader feeling warm and humbled. I admit to being inexperienced in reading the more adult writings on the site but in his work I recognised subtlety, taste, humour and tenderness. But what impresses me the most is the unselfish way he directs us to others. To their stories, their plights, their talents and kindness. Through him I have discovered and read some wonderful work. Each time I have reviewed his work I have always received a note of thanks accompanied by comments that always bring a smile. Since that time he has reviewed my work continuously, always commenting positively and generously be it serious, comic, narrative or poetry. I have not read everything written by gentlmnwritr yet but I will in time. Like a box of chocolates his portfolio is tempting but should be digested slowly over a long period of time.


          gentlmnwritrhas been my inspiration to attempt the more adult type of writing myself; something I had never contemplated before. I now realise how much skill is involved in the art of telling a graphic story and how gratifying it can be. He has been exceedingly encouraging about my efforts and the two Awardicons he has presented to me are treasures I am proud to own. His contests are always challenging, fun and fair and through them I have made many new friends on this site. I now receive many kind and uplifting reviews from all case colours but each time I open my mailbox to find a comment from gentlmnwritr I know it will make my day. Several other moderators deserve my thanks too and I would like to write in recognition of them if time permitted, but if I have to choose one then it has to be gentlmnwritr


         I know he offers the same support and attention to many others and we only need look at the number of get well wishes posted recently to assess his popularity. He can only be described as a moderator who gives one hundred per cent at all times, with flair, originality, genuine warmth and generosity. And to use his own words, he is – Always, gentlmnwritr I thank him.
