New Year Wish

So yet another year goes by,
We sit and ponder, wonder why.
2003, 2004...
Will this one bring true peace - more war?

We live each day the best we can
And try to honor our fellow man.
We read the news with fear and shame,
Impossible seems hate to tame.

We can but do each one our part,
It starts within each soul and heart.
Despair cannot become our guide,
'Tis only hope can break this stride.

If every person sought compassion's sight,
Worked to make one wrong go right,
The energy combined would swell,
Lifting many from their living hell.

Find peace and joy in this New Year bright,
Seek fresh beginnings in dawn's light.
Believe that love can find a way,
To give us hope this New Year's day.
