A Star, A child and Christmas Morn

A hundred million years ago
I sat on long forgotten shores
Looking into a deep black sky
Watching, waiting, I knew not why,
That day so long ago a star was born.

One night two thousand years ago
I sat on now forgotten knolls
Looking into a deep black sky
Watching, waiting, a star shone bright,
That day so long ago a Child was born.

Last night I thought of long ago
As I stood in the frosty snow
Looking into a deep black sky
Watching, waiting, now knowing why,
A star, a Child was born on Christmas morn.
