Greeting my Fellow Writers and Authors,
In all the years that I have been writing, the past few have been the ones that I have become more serious about getting published. Naturally, like everyone else, I have balked simply because I fear those dreaded rejection letters. Now I have more incentive and no more excuses with Story Master's contest. To get started, of all the books I have bought, there are three that are most valuable to any writer. This book is invaluable as to what needs to be done when going through the motions and process of getting published. I have the "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy" by Orson Scott Card. This has helped me to write a convincing story by explaining how to create a world and characters effectively. http://www.writersmarket.com These books are written annually and are pretty much the Writer's Bible. It is a plethora of listings of literary agents, magazines, book publishers, contests and awards, etc. It also gives specific editorial needs and submission guidelines. They even tell you what pay rates, royalties and advances are. I am using that book exclusively now as I begin my epic journey into being published. Of course, I am going to start out easy by trying to get published in a magazine. It doesn't pay very much if accepted, but the overall reward is that I get published. Another step towards showing a book publisher that I have desireable offerings, a writer's resume if you will. I want to take this time to wish all of my Writing.Com Family the best of luck as you go to meet your future in the world of writing. Warmest Regards to all, Val
