BEAR RUG

"It seems to me you shouldn't lay
Flat out upon the ice like that!"
The old bear shook its head and said
"You look quite silly as a mat!"

"it is my goal when I am gone"
The other bear replied;
"To become a nice bear rug,
When I have up and died!"

"It really is a lovely thought
That I might still be loved and seen,
Lying in someone's living room
On a soft carpet colored green."

"Oh, posh!" the old bear cried
"Get up and do some living!
The world is bright and beautiful,
It's meant for the joy of giving!"

"If you get up and force yourself
To live in the here and now;
You'll find there's fish in the sea
That you could catch somehow!'

The other bear shook it's furry head
And still laid there, quite content;
"That is the reason I am lying down,
For on a fishing trip I already went!"

"I ate a lot of salmon that were
Swimming in the bright blue sea;
Now I'm so full I just can't move,
That is what's wrong with me!"

"I really don't want to be a rug
When I leave this cold bed of ice;
But give me time to digest the fish,
That would be very, very nice!"

So if you see a polar bear
Lying down to have a bit of rest
Don't judge too fast the reason
For he is quite apt to jest!
