Once when I was a surly teenager
I arranged a blind dating scheme
with a good friend of mines'
brother whom I had never seen

This hedgehog looking boy showed up at my door
dressed like some kind of a circus clown
not the wholsome good-looking boy next door
my long-suffering parents had been hoping for

I marched down the steps
out into the street
wanting the next car that passed
to knock me flat on my ass

I lost my surly attitude that night
as my mother came running from the sight
Me, in the street, with a death wish
The boy in the clown costume flopping like a fish

Neighbors had gathered in the streets to watch
as I felt the panic rushing in slow motion
I would have to quit school and become a hermit
after all this commotion

I have suffered the ultimate of defeats
that any young teenage can ever fear have happen
I had the ugliest boy of any given year
show up at my door when everyone else was looking
