Death of an Unguarded Heart
Even the coo of a dove may mask the viper's hiss...

What sword is not honed to more razored edge
than when forged by the fire of malice?

What sling not more cunningly sure in its arc
than unleashed in pursuit of revenge?

What poison more savored, yet lethal and swift,
than the bouillon of lies and deceit?

What noose a more skilled executioner
than the unyielding stranglehold of indifference?

What arrow more lethal to unguarded hearts
than that drawn, with deliberacy and stealth...
from the quiver of a trusted friend?

For when the bloody kill is made,
what purloined treasure surpasses lost faith?

Perhaps only one ~ the price of a soul whored...
to lay waste to an unguarded heart.
