THE GOLDEN THREADS

Woven through the cloth of life
are treasured threads of gold;
moments free of sorrow, strife,
dark secrets never told.

Life's storms rage on and evil stalks;
the soul left bruised and torn ~
healed only by the golden threads
in friends' hands gently borne.

Where once were chasmic, painful wounds
inflicted without heed,
a wondrous Man steps forth to touch
and silence aching need.

Taking up the gleaming strands
to mend and render whole,
His knowing heart and tender hands
repair the shattered soul.

How sad that those He's touched before
knew not the long sought calm
His boundless love can so restore...
a priceless, soothing balm.

For they will never see with me
when earthly life is gone,
those shimmering, burnished moments spun;
forever living on.

Or sift back through the mists of time
and breathlessly behold,
woven through the cloth of life...
those cherished threads of gold.

The tapestry of self made strong
by virtue of the weave,
glowing moments filled with love
that taught a soul to breathe.
