Musings of a Future Humanities Senator
When I ran for Humanities Senator last year, I did this instead of the obligatory essay.

Musings from a (hopefully) Future Humanities Senator

To choose just any schmoe as Bishop's Senator of Humanities
Would be an act so reckless, it would border on insanity.
So that, my friend, is why I must attempt to make you see
That I'm the perfect one to fill this spot on SRC.

For all my nineteen years, helping out has been my passion
‘Cause being nice to others will always be in fashion.
I've volunteered in programs for kids and teens alike,
Wrote a play about gay pride, to combat terms like "fag" and "dyke,"
Helped out at lots of charities, like Barrie's Christmas Cheer,
Been there for fellow students to provide a list'ning ear,
Served three amazing years as an enthusiastic member,
Of my high school student council. Such great times I will remember,
Like the time we dressed in beach clothes and danced for everyone,
(We all had two left feet, but it was still a lot of fun),
Organized and ran school dances, spirit weeks, and movie days
With everyone assisting in unique and special ways.
There was Dean, our fearless leader, and Bronwen on P.R.
And Tim, who did announcements. On the air, he was a star!
Ben was the idea man, and I was dubbed the artist,
But everyone was equal, and there was no "best" or "smartest."

So when I came to Bishop's, I didn't want to stop,
‘Cause the high from serving others is pretty hard to top.
So I signed up in September and became an S.A.L.,
And so far, my term on SRC's been going really well.
I've made tons of cool posters, helped at events galore,
But now the year is winding down, and I want to do more.
I know I'm more than able, I'll gladly do my part
I know I've got the passion, and the yearning, and the heart
I want to make a difference, I want to help my peers,
And make B.U. a better place for all the coming years.
So when you cast your ballots, don't stall or be too prudent
Vote *MermaidGirl* as Senator to represent YOU, the students.
