Just Desserts
SLAM poem entry

Gathered around this table
in a profusion of annoyances
and feigned camaraderie
are the hypocrites in my life.

I'd introduce them,
but why waste my breath
bringing into your consciousness
these illusions of substance.

Judgmental of me,
but there is honesty in my cynicism.
I brought them here ultimately
to dine on their false pretenses.

Seasoned with animosity
and braised in pungent resentment,
the entree` will leave them amazed
at how pleasant eating hemlock can be...

Leaving them to crave their just desserts.
