Look Away
By: Tracey Criswell Wilson I never thought I'd see the day Of hungry children begging this way People not looking, just passing them by, With not a glance or wondering why. Too wrapped up within themselves, To realize how deeply their ignorance cuts. They watch the homeless on the street, Scared to be touched; In haste they move their feet. No bed do they have, to rest for the night, So they search for cardboard to be out of sight. Children killing children, is nightmare enough, Yet mothers kill their young when things get too tough... Babes drowned in tubs, or plunged into the bay. No, I never thought I'd see the day.
